windows xp pro

I have loaded xp on to a new hdd and everything works fine. The only problem I have is the screen resolution. The scroll bar is very hard to see and the icons on the task bar are unclear.

Have you installed the video drivers and set the display settings. If not install the video drivers. Try right clicking on the desktop, selecting properties then go to the settings and check to see what the settings are.

could also be an old monitor if that is the case try using a newer one see if the problem continues then you know that it is a driver issue.

what is your current display resolution and color depth? find out: Control Panel/Display. i bet you have picked a resolution or refresh rate incompatible with your monitor. try 800x600 with 24 bit color. then try 1024x2048 with same color depth. if you can figure out how, note adapter refresh rate. consider finding and installing monitor inf file (monitor 'driver')
