Change extension

Copy the file mbam.exe and paste into same directory. Then change the extension to .com from .exe. Also, if you run Combofix, do the same thing with it.

you will have to rename the .exe first before the virus will let you install it.

once installed, reboot into safemode and run a scan and then clean the registry.

good luck

Anther one to get is Combofix, you can google it, but make sure you are downloading it from is the most trusted source according to the program maker. install the recovery thingie, it may corrupt some files if they are infected, you can then boot to a recovery console w/o xp cd and run chkdsk -r to fix...nice software though, similar to smitfraudfix.

Go to Symantec's website

Go to Symantec's website and look for your virus here. It may not be the exact name but believe me I've gotten rid of quite a few in the last year by following the directions in those. Especially the one that is AntivirusXP2008.

some times it is the little things to get your malwarebytes to run. The most simple is to reboot your machine, and as soon as your desktop appears, click on your mbam icon. Sounds hokie, but these malware programs don't kick in immediately.
