Windows XP Pro encrypted file rescue

By sean ·
I ran the defrag utility on my NTFS partition on my Windows XP Professional machine. It eventually crashed and went into a memory dump. When I rebooted it attempted to start windows and then dumped again with the message boot_volume_unmountable atthe top. I have already installed Windows on a new hard drive and have set the old one up as a slave to it, is there any way for me to rescue my encrypted files? Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks but this only works if you have afunctional system that is still seeing the files, the built in defrag utility did so much damage that I am unable to access the drive even as a slave. Ontrack's recovery software managed to save mostof what was unencrypted but is entirely unable to find any of the encrypted stuff. My entire My Documents folder is missing.
