XP for Dummies is a good book and Microsoft's tour of XP site at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/evaluation/tours/tour.mspx

Thanks!

thanks Bfilmfan!

I will put that into the intro packet I have to come up with for the users and I know we have that book in the stacks....somewhere. I have to put "pretty" pictures in the packet for some of the steps.

I went out looking in our stacks earlier and found Windows XP Pro 2nd edition: The missing manual.

Its not a bad book for beginners either.

Make it familiar

by ccthompson In reply to Windows XP Pro for beginn ...

You have the capability to make XP look just like windows 2000, if you want. That is, if you are familiar with windows 2000.....

Right click the task bar at the bottom of the screen, click the start menu tab, and you can change it to classic. The control panel works this way as well, when opened, on the left side, click switch to classic view.

I have that

I have that in the "How to" Guide because I know that we have folks here who fight change so much.

Housekeeping help for Newbies

by Alan Henderson In reply to Windows XP Pro for beginn ...

I have this site which started as a help source for SeniorNet members. It assumes very basic knowledge and gives info on Windows, security and PC care in plain language. There's a feedback page for questions:
