    Windows XP Pro Permissions

    Locked

    by jr_hearty ·

    Greetings,

I recently moved my user’s home directory over to a Windows 2k3 storage appliance. I have about 5 users – all running different models of IBM laptops with XP Pro SP2- who can’t access their files in the new location.

The share maps, but when they try to click into it, it says access denied. If they right click and select explore, they can get into the folder.

If I log into a different computer with their user name, they can access the files no problem. So I know the problem is on their machines.

    Any ideas?

What are the difference between machine which permit access and one which doesn’t?
If your user log on to domain on both machines then the credentials are the same and they must accepted by the server 2k3 wherever.

Thanks for your reply. The problem was resolved by running MS update and installing the critical patches on the client side. I’m not sure which patch solved the problem.
