Yeah. It has always happened to me when the Print Spooler Service has crashed.

TO fix it, go to Start -> Run and type "services.msc" (minus quotes). In the right pane of the new window, take a look for something called "Print Spooler" and see if that services has started. If it is not, click "Start this service", which is found in the left pane.

If you want the service to resart after it has crashed, right click on the service and select Properties. From there, hit the Recovery tab and in both the 1st and 2nd drop-down boxes, make sure they say "Restart the Service". Click OK and you should be good to go!

Hope that helps!

if you are using the latest drivers and you don't think the spooler is crashed, then I would look in the event logs on the pc's. you are saying these printers hook to a pc which shares them? how many pc's on your network? could more than 10 people be trying to open a session on a pc hosting a printer?
there are lots of doc with more ideas like this if you search Windows XP Pro 'network printing troubleshoot' at support.microsoft.com
