Windows XP Pro... Profiles

By kashmeir63 ·
Hi,
I have a laptop that is not part of a network. It's a stand alone laptop w/had it's own profile. I decided to put it on the Network, creating another profile. Is there a way to some how merge, the profile that I used before I put it the network, w/the one on the network.
I would like the network logon to have the same desktop, recent documents, start up, e.t.c. as the logon before putting it on the domain(network)..
I hope I explained this correctly.. Thank You.

There is a simple way to fix this problem.

All you need to do is run the file and settings transfer wizard on the local profile.

When asked where you want to save these files choose a folder in the root of c: name it something like Data or whatever you want it to be.

Then after all that is done, log into the network profile and rerun file and settings transfer wizard stating this is the computer that is new or something simular.

Hope that helps

sorry forgot to include when you first run the file and settings transfer wizard the first time. You will be the old computer.

then it will ask where you want to save this info. (sorry doing this from the top of my head)
