I have a 120GB hard drive with Windows XP Pro on it (upgraded from win 98). The XP CD says
Academic Edition Version 2002.
I bought a new 320GB hard drive.
I ran the Setup Program on the XP CD and it asked for my 98 CD to prove that I owned it. I put that in and then the program got to the part where it asks for which partition you want to install to.
It said
To set up Windows XP on the selected item press Enter.
131070 MB Disk 0 at IDO on bus 0 on atapi [MBR]
C: Partition 1 [unknown] 131072 MB (131071 MB free)
BUT
my disk is not 131070 MB. It is a 320GB drive that windows XP can see if I boot up with it as slave.
1. Why won’t the setup program see the disk as the right size?
2. How do I make it install? When I try to continue the installation it copies a lot of files and then says its going to restart (take any floppy disks out) and continue installing. What it actually does is begin the setup program all over again. I have spent hours looking for help on this but I can’t find anything.
