Windows XP Pro SP2 Sound Controls

    Locked

    by le_vanhai ·

I have Windows XP Pro SP2 installed in a desktop equiped with a Pentium III 850MHz CPU.
I created three users in this PC and all of the users belong to the Administrators group.
However there is only one user can hear sound from applications (Window Media Player, sound recorder, dictionary, etc) and the other two users can not hear anything from the same applications.

I would highly appreciate any help to solve this problem.

    Many thanks,

Check to see if volume is turned down too low or sound is muted for those users. It’s surprising how many times that’s the problem.

Obviously sound card, drivers and speakers are OK.

If it is not the volume try creating another user and log in as him. If the sound works try removeing the other accounts and recreating them.

      Hi

Go into Control Panel and check the sound properties – My XP Pro SP2 machine was having similar problems and I discovered (twice) that the sound volume had been turned down. I still have no idea what did this.

      Good luck
