Windows XP Pro unable to browse network

By brooksmc ·
I have two computers (one is an M40 Dell Laptop, the other is a Dell precision 530 workstation)both are exhibiting the same problems they are unable to find any computers in network places or in explorer you are able to browse for a computer by nameusing the search function. I have already turned on the computer browser in the services section. We are running a peer to peer network with workgroups, and all 108 workstations are in the same workgroup.

Windows XP Pro unable to browse network

by BobHo In reply to Windows XP Pro unable to ...

Can these machines be seen by other workstations withing the workgroup? Check the tcpip properties in the connection and see if "Enable Netbios over TCPIP" is enabled (I think the default is through a DHCP server).
