Windows XP Product Activation Issue

by gundam_deathscythe574 . Updated 20 years, 3 months ago

Okay, I have previously posted a problem on this board, but after locating a CD, I have another problem.

I did a repair/reinstall installation using a Windows XP Home edition CD in order to correct a boot issue. However, after doing so, I was asked for a Confirmation ID. I cannot connect to the internet, because the PC in question is on a wireless network which, since I cannot log into windows, is not configured. So, I assumed I would try the telephone option, but when I did so, I was told that the key was invalid. I have no idea why this is.

It may also be important to note that my PC came pre-loaded with Windows XP Home Edition. I guess what I’d like to know is this:

1. Is there any way to log into Windows in order to configure my internet connection, to try that method?

2. Why would this “Product ID” number be designated as invalid?

3. Has anyone else here encountered this problem?

Thanks for your help in advance. I personally am very frustrated. I already own this product, it seems almost intrusive for me to have to “activate” it.

Regards, Josh~
