Windows XP Professional: DocumentsandSettings/User: Access Is Denied

by sundevilg . Updated 18 years, 6 months ago

I just got my laptop back from Fry’s Electronics/HP, who had to replace my processor.

It looks like whomever worked on my computer created a new identity in Documents and Settings, which I have access to. However, this new folder was empty, just as if I just installed XP.

I want to access the other folder (the one that previously housed my documents/settings, some files, bookmarked favorites, etc.) but when I click on the folder (which supposedly has 1 MB worth of info in it), I get the dreaded “C:\Documents and Settings\username Access is Denied, Folder is not accessible” error message. Clearly, my files are in there as I did an initial system scan and these files were listed.

Can anybody help me? I really do appreciate your efforts. I’m about a 6 on the technical knowledge scale…

Thanks!

– Greg
