Windows Xp Setup recognises hard drive as 4028mb but can’t use it

Guy’s can anyone help.

I have trawled the net for answers. I have two 40gb hitatchi travelstar IDE 2.5″ notebook drives that my Laptop (acer aspire 1360) can’t properly recognise when installing windows. Win xp recognises
botht as a 4028mb capacity but say’s that it is not suitable for an install and won’t let me create a partition.

I have updated the bios on the laptop (via external floppy) in the hope of being able to get it recognised, but still no joy.

There are no options for adjusting the settings pertaining to Hard drives in the bios whatsoever.

I have also tried to install on a usb pen.

Anyone any ideas.

Thanks

Ali
