Windows XP sp2 and Flash Drives

By Homey4Pres ·
Since installing SP2 on XP Pro my Integral? USB 128MB Flash drive is not recognised correctly. It is the type with a partitioned drive on that comes up with one partion as a floppy drive (1.44MB) and the rest as a removable hard drive. The floppy drive section is recognised OK but not the hard drive section. If I remove SP2 the drive works correctly again. I have tried this on a few different systems and all respond the same way. Anyone with any ideas on why this is happening?

I had a similar problem and heres what I did. On mine the drive was partitioned so that it could be encrypted and prompt for a password on access. I removed all partitions from the usb drive using the software that came with it. After the drive was seen as only one. I then uninstalled the the software that came with the usb drive. Now when I would plug in the drive it would appear fine. The software for the usb drive was somehow conflicting with the sp2 on windows xp.

Hope this helps

I'm sorry but this does not help me. We use the drives to store work related files on and we have to keep the security in place to prevent unauthorised access.

You should also have a lock on the drive's manufacturer Homepage. They should have patches for download or tips there.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have been in contact with Integral and as a result they have updated their security program so that it will work with XP sp2.
