Windows XP SP2 Repair asking for a driver. Need assistance please!

by jjmabry . Updated 16 years, 4 months ago

Hi there,

I am attempting to repair a Windows XP SP2 install using the repair console method. Everything in the repair goes fine until “installing devices” where I get the following message:

“Please insert the Compact Disc labeled “Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio. Installation Disc #1″ into your CD-ROM drive (D:) and then click OK.”

Awesome. OK! I insert a driver disc. Hit OK. It asks me for the path..

Keyboard and mouse freeze. Cannot get them to react at all. Stuck in this unending repair console. If I restart the computer, same scenario; it asks for the installation disk and starts the beast over again. Safe mode just tells me repair utility cannot use safe mode.

If I cannot get it to continue I need to know a method of getting the files off of the drive. I didn’t have discs or any other method to do a dump before this process; never did foresee such a mess.

Can someone please assist me?
