Windows XP Startup

By theav ·
I have two systems, both using WIndows XP Home, and both have a single Administrator Login as well as a guest login. One PC, when starting up, shows "Welcome" and continues the boot process until Windows XP is loaded. No response is needed from the user.

The other PC requires clicking on the Administrator login on the "Welcome" screen before it finishes the boot process. What is it about the second PC that forces the user to click on the login before XP will load? Is there a way to make the PC boot without requiring a response from the operator?

Try turning off the welcome screen in User Accounts

Start/Control Panel/Users Accounts/Change the way users log on or off. Clear the check box for "Use the Welcome Screen"

Hope this helps :)

Actually, the guy I was trying to help failed to tell me he had multiple accounts set up. He always told me that there was one administrator (actually, there were two) and one guest account. After he got rid of the 2nd administrator account, he got the results he was looking for.

Thanks anyway!
