I have a strange windows display and would appreciate your help please.
I am using win xp pro with a desktop Asus mother board P4S8X, Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz and 512 Meg DDR. AGP Nvidia 4600 graphic board and Sony LCD flap panel display (DVI).
The hard disk has three partitions C:\ for OS, D:\ for Programs, E:\ for Data
One day all of a sudden the computer reboot by it self, then the windows welcome screen displays text with symbols instead of legible characters.
However when I manage to run some applications like Symantec viruscan, texts of the apps are displayed normally but the fonts are somewhat different from what I had.
Some windows will display texts normally in some fields while garbages in others. Like the
garbages are specific to some functions only.
I have run virus scan and pestpatrol, the computer is clean.
Then I managed to restore the C:\ partition with an previous image created with Drive Image 7 and the computer was returned to normal. Then a few days later the problem restart all over again!!!
I have replaced the DDR by another, changed the RAM slot the problem stays the same.
I then restore again (the same image) and bingo it works normally but for how long?
I thought that the AGP graphic board was destroyed but then it works when I restore the disk!
I would like to attach herewith screen images (jpg)taken with a camera to illustrate the problem, to show how the screen looks but do not how to.
