Windows XP Taskbar

By dgolic ·
I have a Windows XP Pro SP2 with latest hotfixes installed. No tweaking or theme software is installed since this is a corporate laptop. I have a wide screen on the laptop, and I moved windows taskbar to the left side of the screen, resized it to be 3 lines wide and locked it's position and size. Every time I restart a computer, taskbar gets smaller and smaller, until it goes to a default 1 line. Is there a way to prevent this, and to fix it's size and position. I tried the registry, but the only setting is actually the one that is available by windows itself: Lock the taskbar, it doesn't do the trick.

The only things that can change it are, OU/GPO, local GPO, a bad install or malware. Try to reimage the computer and see if it happems again.
Try a clean install, no image with all up dates.
The task bar should not resize itself! There is something doing it.

I reinstalled the comp and had the same problem again on a clean install. After XP SP2 was published, the problem was gone.

I had similar problem. 'Antidote' was to move the 'language bar' out of taskbar and let it float on desktop. After making it transparent it is almost 'not annoying'. :)
