I’m using Windows XP SP2 and it has suddenly stopped being able to record to DVD -R or -RW’s on all three of my DVD burners
When I look at each drive’s properties in My Computer, there IS a “Recording” tab, but the “Enable CD recording” isn’t checked. I check it, but when I move to the next drive and enable cd recording, it unchecks the previous drive. When I try to record to the drive I just enabled, I get an error message that Windows has encountered problems and offers the chance to retry or cancel. Retry does nothing, just re-offers the two options.
When I insert a blank DVD into a drive, it displays that the drive is now a CD drive, but indicates a DVD is inserted.
I have removed all dvd burning software from my computer, as I remember that Sonic’s RecordNow caused similar problems on a system I had a few years ago. Same problem exists…no change
I have made sure that the IMAPI CD burning service is set to Automatic in the Computer Managment screen, but it doesn’t show that it has started, just offers the option to start it. Starting it doesn’t change anything.
I have deleted all drive from the device driver screens and allowed Windows to re-discover them….no change.
I have checked for all firmware updates and applied all that were available…no change.
It will play all recorded dvd’s just find
Any help would be appreciated.
