When I got to the Windows Update site I receive the following message on the page; “Your organization has decided to provide software updates internally rather than through Windows Update. To download updates for your Windows computer, please see your network administrator.” This just started happening one day and I have checked the system policies and they are fine. I have no other ideas. Any help would be great.

Well, I suppose that depends: *are* you the network administrator(and moreover, are you trying the MS update from work?)? Microsoft does make it possible for network administrators to download the updates to the network and then distribute them overan organization’s PC’s via the LAN.

So you might actually *want* to check with your network administrator to verify this (if you aren’t the administrator yourself).

I don’t know if that helps, but I thought I’d throw it out there.

Though you say that you have checked the system policies and all is well, the error that you are receiving seems to be consistent with the Policy Editor selection under “Local Computer/Windows 98 System/Windows Update”.

well you’re wrong
everyone was wrong
I had to type in the run menu
regsvr32 wupdinfo.dll
so if anyone else needs help with this, this is how you do it.
