WinGate Proxy

By drewwilliams ·
I am trying to connect a clients email service through a vendor. She has Starpower as her internet provider via Dial Up. She checks her email using Netscape and her dial up setup is on a NT4 Server. Problem: Her former ISP had her and four other computers using Netscape mail and internet via WinGate proxy at the server. Now that she has switched to Starpower cannot get her mail yet can surf the net using IE only. Any suggestions? Is the problem configuration setup via Netscape?

The ISP is offering very little help because, quite frankly, it is of very little
benefit to them. They have suggested that I purchase more dial-up numbers for each client or buy ip addresses. Thanks for the suggestion.

Number 1 is correct.

Netscape is probably still configured to use the former ISP's mail servers and maybe even proxy servers. If this is the case, changing them to Starpower's would solve the problem. In the preferences, try using pop.starpower.com (or pop. followed by you ISP's address) and smtp.starpower.com as your ingoing/outgoing mail servers. Then delete any entries for a proxy server.

I hope this helps.

Paul.

Thanks, but this does not work either. Starpower stated that I should use: pop.starpower.net. The smtp server uses: smtp.triad-com.com because this is the company hosting their emails. I tried reconfiguring the netscape setup and still nothing. Thanks for the suggestion.
