win.ini allowed to edit by restricted user

By brian ·
I need to be able to allow a restricted user to edit the win.ini (a program needs to be able to edit the file and the restricted user must be able to use this program). I know that there is a way to enter the group policy editor, but i am not sure how to make this file editable by a restricted user. Windows XP Professional SP3.

you could try....

right clicking the .ini > Properties > Security tab > "Advanced" button at the bottom > click "add" > then apply the person or group, edit their permissions to what you need it to be. Uncheck Inherit from the parent, so your changes do not get changed...

That might work... Worth a shot.
Good luck!
