WinME Domain Login Prompt??

By Chad Davidson ·
I am using WindowsME and trying to get the PC to logon to our company domain. I have TCP/IP installed, along with the Client for Microsoft networks, which is set to logon to a domain.

The weird thing is that when I first turn on the
computer, it automatically displays a desktop and does not prompt me for a username and password to login. But if I then log off, it will prompt me with the familiar username, password, domain dialog box, which I can logon
to fine.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the client and it does not help. Does anybody out there have any ideas of how to fix this. A Registry change perhaps?

In other forums I have posted on, people have suggested to delete the registry value: "HKLM/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/network/realmodenet". But that doesn't help either.

Thanks in advance,
Chad

Search the registry for a key called

AutoLogon

Delete that key.

In the Network properties, which do you have set to look for first: Windows logon or Network?

I have the client for Microsoft Networks as my primary network logon, if that's what you mean.

Thanks, Chad

Search for a file of type [first 8 chars of username].pwl and delete (or rename) it.

I think VinnyD is right, there is a registry key that is logging you on automatically. It's usually found at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Network\Real Mode Net . This is the most likely cause.
