i need to reinstall my user desktop due to hard disk crash (OS=winme) but the recovery disc is not working. if i intend to copy winme.pak from the cd over to the pc and run it? but how to unzip the file? any idea? or anyone got better solution for this?

Is your disk not working or is the drive not working?

First of all, make sure the recovery disk is clean and free of fingerprints. Try it again.

If it still fails, reboot your PC and enter the BIOS, and change the boot order so that it checks the CD drive first, then try it again.

If it still fails, try it in another PC and see if the PC will boot from it. If it does, then it may be that the CD drive has failed.

These Recovery Disks usually use some form of ghosting software which will reformat and then copy a new installation of Windows. Be aware that you will lose all your data. You may want to install your hard-drive as a slave drive in another computer and copy your data off it before using the disk.
