WinNT Server 4.0, SP6a, standalone installation, member of a domain.
If you used WinNT and Win2000 you know that the security tab (when you chose to view the properties of a folder) look different in this two OS.
Somehow my WinNT 4.0/security tab window, look like in Win2000 (only this one). This aspect of the “security tab window” is not a problem for me, but doesn’t work correct. If I set the permissions for a folder, from a shared resource, sometimes work and sometimes not.
When it doesn’t work, nobody has access to this folder (also the domain admin) and I must go to the Server who offers this share, then using the same user account, I must use the “take ownership” and set all permissions again.
Probably this problem is from an installed application but I don’t know which one. Because I don’t set the permissions all the day, when I saw this problem was late to identify the cause of the problem.
From any other computer the permissions works fine. Also it is not related to the user account.
I don’t want to reinstall the OS.
How I can repair this?
