WinNT4 multihoming error.

By razorren ·
I have a NT4.0 server with an ethernet (192.168.24.1) and tokenring (192.168.23.1) adapter installed. I also have Netbeui installed and IP fowarding turned on. However when I boot the machine I get an error saying that there is a machine with a duplicate name on the network. I have this same setup working on 2 other nt servers with no errors.
Any suggestions ?

WinNT4 multihoming error.

It is probably not a multi-home error. Silly as it sounds, there might BE a duplicate name. With the server off, try looking for it from a different workstation. (Network neighborhood, or start/run/\\computername ).

The server name is on the Identification tab of the Network control panel applet. On NT it may be up to 15 characters long. This name must be unique on your network.

Avoid spaces in the name.

Good luck.
