By maureen.darcy ·
Installed a new printer in WinNT 4.0 that is not recognize, what could be the cause?
IEEE cable not used?
OEM.INF file not found?
Parallel port should be set to LPT2 in NT?

I'm taking a test and this question came up on the test.....

Most likely this will not be a cable issue. Cables are pretty much standard.
My answer would be the 2nd one since recognizing the hardware and loading the driver depends on this file.
By default printers are loaded on LPT1 unless you change the settings

D. All the above

All the answers could be possible causes for a printer not to be recognized. If there is no OEM.inf then not correct driver. If IEEE compliant cable not used, then it wont be able to communicate. If the Printer is plugged into a port with LPT1 mapped to it and you try to set it to LPT2, then it wont find it correctly.
