I am working as a member of a team responsible for moving an exhisting WinNT40 network with SNA to Win2000 with Host Integration Server. We are reviewing the exhisting network and discovered the previous NA had enable HOSTS on all workstations and servers because wins is corrupt. We would like to repair/replace/rebuild the wins database to ease our conversion process. Also we have renamed all workstations and supernetted the network to increase the number of available IPs and have a more relative naming scheme. I can only estimate that the wins has been corupted for over 4 years. We have updated all machines on the network with the most recent service packs and we have tried to remove wins from the network completely and reinstall it but it doesnt appear to be working properly. If anyone has any suggestions as to how we can get to a happy place with this wins issue please share.
