Wins server

By Vuitanh ·
My other network didn't see this network(in Network Neighborhood). However, the Win SErver computer is visible on this internal network. What is possible cause?

There are a lot of things that could cause a problem like this.

If you are using TCP/IP as your main protocol, you probably need to either set up a

1) WINS server replication partner on the other network,

2) create an LMHOSTS file to explain to your local PC how to find the PC'(s) on the remote network (this implies you are using static IP's)

3) are you sure your router is configured to route packets between the networks? (remember NETBEUI protocol is not routable)

Remember todistinguish between name resolution problems, i.e., "I can't browse to remote server '\\remoteserver'" versus connectivity problems such as "I can't ping 192.9.200.1" or whatever your remote target machine's IP address is...

Hope this helps,
Howard H.
