I have a W2K Server with two NIC’s. WINS is running although it is listed with the external address of the server (which is the built-in Ethernet). I think I need it on the internal 10.x.x.x (PCI card) NIC but I am unable to get it there. I delete and add WINS again with the 10… address but it switches back to the public IP. Is there a way to force it to the internal network or will it always “bind” to the built-in port?
My actual goal is for VPN, vendor states that if I run WINS I’ll have a higher chance of getting my few remaining Win98 users to see the domain, and so users don’t have to remember IP address to map shares. I suppose I could just add another WINS on the internal network but I’d rather just have one if possible.
Thanks!
