I have 2 HD a C: 14GB with Win2k and a 80GB WinXP with 3 partitions, the thing is that I want to install Linux an organize my partitions, so I install Partition Magic 7.0, and when PM7.0 starts it shows a message telling that my 80GB drive have geometric error of some kind (it was working fine) and to correct the problem I have to format the whole disk and create the partitions again other wise I cannot do anything with PM7.0. So I did a backup of winXP using win2k backup utility (maybe that was my error) and stored on the first HD. Well I formatted the disk and made 4 primary partitions on the 80GB disc with PM7.0. Then restored the backup to the first primary partition on the disk with the SAME drive letter. When rebooted there was an error something about problems finding the OS, so I fix the boot.ini (that is on the first HD C: ), here is the problem, when XP boots it start with the black welcome screen and then the blue one with the xp logo and it hangs there, the only thing thatmoves on the screen is the cursor.
I change the config in boot.ini but now I?m convince that that?s not the problem (I ran the xp repair console bootcfg, and it configured the same way as I did). At least I have Win2k running.
Can someone know how to resolve this problem?
