WinXP Freeze

I have installed WinXP on a system that is capable of running XP. SP1 is installed. I am experiencing a system hang to the point of having to power down the system. I noticed yesterday for example that when I got home system hung after being up all day.

rate this answer as unacceptable, then withdraw your question and repost it adding:PC info; make; processor speed; ram; hard drive; video card- if not onboard. A Voodoo card may cause this.
1. in BIOS and/or XP, your hard drive (Hdd) is set to power down after ?minutes non-activity. Many PC's won't fire back up. Some take 15 sec to refire.
2. reset these settings to disable and see what happens. That will prove or eliminate this usual problem. Notify "answerer" of results for further advice.
3. Turn off your PC when not using. Leaving it run loads up ram, page files, etc. Then it takes some minutes of use to flush these out. Why are you leaving it run?????
