Hi
My problem is that I reinstall WinXP after formating & partitioning my hard disk, setup copies the required files to the temporary folder then restarts. But after restart when screen shows “Setup investigating your computer’s hardware configuration” my computer not responding (about 15 min.).
I restart my computer but nothing happens.
I read some online tips i.e. hardware compatibility, disable some hardwares but no success.
REMEMBER I had installed WinXP on my (same) computer with same hardwares and from same CD several times before.
CD is working properly because it gave no error during copying of files for setup to temporary folder on hard disk. But after copying & restart computer hangs showing “setup is inspecting ur hardware configuraion”.
I did not install new hardware.
I tried to install WinXP from my friends CD, but the same problem exists
I had already tried following steps:
Copy the I386 to harddisk then try to install from there.
Remove or disable almost all hardwares except motherboard, ram & display (graphics) card.
Change the display (graphics) card.
But the problem is the same.
I read about using ntdetect.chk file i.e. after using that file it shows the problem. I used that file then at the message “Setup inspecting your computer’s hardware configuration” it shows information related to that message i.e. detecting different hardwares. But I can’t understand information.
After detecting procedure, setup goes a step ahead i.e. shows the screen on which at the upper left corner “Windows Setup” is written and at the bottom it shows different options one by one i.e. “Press F6 for loading SCSI or third party drivers” or some thing like that. Then “Press F2…….”, then load some files. After that computer halts showing a screen having messages “SESSION5_INITIALIZATION_FAILED ” and at the end shows the error “STOP: 0x00000071”.
Help please.
