WinXP PE, System clock flaky

By mlafleur ·
Hey there folks,

Very weird problem on my PC. I'm running a Compaq Desktop EN 700 Mhz with Windows XP Professional. The clock acts very eratically, some times it can be 10 minutes ahead, other time 5, then 30 minutes ahead... Very odd. I've never encountered this problem and haven't been able to find anything on the web... I checked the time in the BIOS and it is OK...

HELP! I keep thinking it's time to go home only to be disapointed that I have to stay longer!!!

set the clock to auto sync with a different server. Do this by double clicking the clock. It then brings up a window with a couple tabs. One is the date and time, one is the timezone I believe and there's another one to sync the clock with an external server. They give you two servers I believe. Just make sure you select one and then enable the sync feature.

another way to do it would be to use the command prompt. Not sure if that works in XP but that's how you do it in previous OS's

C:\net time /setsntp:time.nist.gov

That should set your clock to sync with the Naval Time server. Again, make sure you have the right timezone selected in the clock settings

Sorry folks I should have let you know but I was able to resolve this issue... after a few weeks of searching the web (and being early for meetings...) I found that the following was effective.
