Winxp pro Won't boot

By Tech Support1 ·
I've installed a small audio chat program and real audio 10, and when done I've turned the system off. Today, my brother tried to power up the system, it goes through the initial startup process and loading drivers, I get the following screen, and no matter what I choose it shows the windows logo and the system restarts and comes back to the same point, I?ve enabled the cd rom to be the first boot device trying to boot from the winxp cd?no hope, tried the floppy, nothing either, it will show me the same screen and when I get to the recovery console, same thing it restarts over and over, any assistance will be appreciated.

?We Appologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this

If your computer stopped respondin, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Know Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.

If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren?t sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Have you actually tried to boot it using Safe Mode? if it does boot I'd then say try un-installing whatever it was that was installed.

Failing that you may have to re-install XP.

Booting from the XP CD should give you the option of trying to repair the installation and also to re-install it as well.
