WinXP Prof. and WinXP Home-share drive

I have two three computers at home, a laptop w/98,
and two desktops-(1) WinXP Prof, and (2) WinXP home edition. when I try to share the hard drive on the WIN XP Prof. computer I get the error that the “Server service is not running” how can I enable this service to run? Is it necessary to share a drive?
