WinXP SP2 On Laptop Won’t Boot

by grobinso36 . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

Good Day,

I am running Winxp SP2 on an Levono X60 laptop. This is an imaged drive that contains my data and some apps that I can’t reinstall. Unfortunately, I did not image the drive before running setup mgr from sysprep. I tried stopping setup mgr and that’s where the problem started. When I try last known good, I receive the error message, “missing windows\system32\config\system” With that, I currently have the drive in an USB enclosure and connected to another laptop. I can see all files and folders, but cannot copy the system file from the laptop because it is a protected Windows file. Any ideas? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks, GR
