Wired Router and wireless accesspoint

by chackoka . Updated 17 years, 8 months ago

My PC is Dell, 2GB RAM, Win Vista Ultimate. I have a router supplied by my internet-service provider. I added a wireless access point (D-Link). It worked well. Recently the router was changed. The connection is ok when the router is connected directly to the PC. When it is routed through the access point, connection was lost. After correcting the IP ad it works. But it is not working when the encryption is enabled.

My questions are:

On the D-Link (access point) adapter properties which IP ad should be written? When the D-Link default is entered it woul not work.

Should I enable/setup/delete the LAN (Intel) adapter? If enabled which IP ad?

Which will be the gateway?

I am not a computer professional, just a PC buff. Could you suggest “a simple, essential reading” on the topic for me?
