I have a XP Pro Inspiron 8500 that I cannot get a brand new working wireless adapter to completely install on. It continues to say Code 12 not enough resources to run it and to disable other devices. I reloaded XP hoping it would clear out any glitches and no go on that one. It does the sam thing. Initially I uninstalled SP3 and rolled back to SP2 and that did not do it either. This is an IRQ conflict and I cannot change the IRQ in XP, always is grayed out to uncheck the box to automatically assign. I even went into the properties of ACPI in Computer in device manager and changed it to Standard PC Did not help at all. The BIOS has nothing listed for IRQ’s or ACPI… This is a Linksys WPC300N PCMCIA adapter. I plugged this adapter into my friends laptop and it went in normally and worked just fine. No help on Linksys site or with Tech support on the phone I used my WPC54G USB adapter from my desktop and it goes in with ease. Trying to use a PCMCIA instead of a USB so it does not stick way out of the back and get damaged. Any direction or work a rounds would be helpful. Thanks
