Wireless cable to wired to computer and VOIP? Help

by sophistes . Updated 18 years, 7 months ago

I am trying to set up a wireless router with a wired router behind it. Wireless serves the house. Wired serves the desktop and two VOIP modems. The wireless (Surfboard SBG900) stays up, but the wired (Linksys befsr81) connections go down continuously. Rebooting the Linksys brings it back, but not for long.

Before I was running a wired cable modem (SB5100) to the Liknsys and everything worked fine. I can’t figure out the conflict between the two routers.

Here’s the setup:

Cable into wireless router. Ethernet from wireless router to to WAN port on Linksys. Ethernet from linksys to computer and two VOIP modems on slots 1, 2, 3 respectively.

I have not tinkered with the settings in the wireless. I have tried disabling DHCP on the Linksys, but that just shuts down my connection. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
