Wireless Connection Drop out

Hello all, I have a D-Link wireless router with a pc with a wireless netowrk card in it but after the pc sits a while with no activity it loses it connection but I have apps on it that require it map network drives so I am getting alot of errors due to the lost of connectivity is there any quick fix out there that will keep that connection with out killing alot of band width or pinging my router to death??

Well firstly do you need the speed or just be able to move around? If it the first switch to a wired network as you'll have a lot less security issues for starters.

Secondly make sure that there are no Base Stations for Cordless Phones near by wireless Remotes or Ceil Phones all of these can adversely affect a wireless connection.

You could also try another brand of Wireless router as the D_Links are not one of the best available that might help with your problems if you just have to have that Wireless phone nearby.

You can also go through the Router Setup and make sure that you have not only changed the default User Name and Password but actually set it up properly you really need to do more than just type in a User Name and Password. Also what Networking protocols are you using?

Just as an afterthought you are not using a Note Book are you. If you are it most likely is set to hibernate and that will drop out the Wireless connection and in many cases not reestablish it again once the computer is up and running again.
