You'll need to setup the WiFi Connection

Though I'm not sure that Vista Home Basic supports that option as this is the base version of Vista it lacks quite a lot of things that are available to it's bigger monsters.

You can try asking at the M$ supported Vista Community here

Or ring M$ Technical Support for a solution the Web Site would be the cheaper but I'm not sure of the quality of the replies.

Problem with Client for MS Network Properties - windows locator

by pcresolver In reply to You'll need to setup the ...

Hi Col,
thanks for your swift response.
I have read this and other forums for answers and have already noted your links to the MS help and found it as helpful as you anticipated!
From what I can gather the problem is related to the selection of windows locator in the MS Network Properties for the wifi connection. You can select windows locator but it doesn't stay selected.
I have seen this on other posts but not found an answer.
It seems strange that the WiFi works in so far as it connects to the network but doesn't allow data or internet connection!

thanks again

Vista Home Basic Wireless - Solution

I installed XP alongside Vista and configured the wifi adaptor, then booted into Vista and it worked.
Not an elegant solution but does show that there is a problem with Vista not saving configuration settings to the WiFi adaptor.
