Wireless Internet Problems

By J.Runn ·
Hello all,

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 and I am trying to access my wireless internet via Linksys WRT54G. We have Comcast internet service and we are using their RCA Broadband modem.

Here is my issue:

1. When I am connect via cat5 ethernet cable to the modem i can use IE/Firefox just fine.

2. When I have the ethernet cable plugged in the "internet" port of the Linksys WRT54G to the RCA Modem, i can connect fine, but IE and Firefox will freeze when i try to connect wirelessly.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

if you do an 'ipconfig' at the cmd prompt, do you have an IP address for your WLAN adapter?

can you ping the IP address given as the 'default gateway' from the ipconfig command?

Did the WLAN ever work, or is this a new install?
