Wireless Network Association Failed

by jarcuri . Updated 18 years, 7 months ago

I can’t get onto my wireless network since I used an Ethernet hookup at a hotel during a recent business trip. Previous to that my wireless connection to my host was fine.

I’m running a Lenovo R60, Windows XP SP2. When I run initiate the Wireless Connection Status on the tool bar, the radio is always Off. I turn it on and am told that the radio is powered on but not associated. and Signal quality is poor.

Wireless Settings indicate the correct Current Location Profile, but the SSID is blank. Network Type shows Access Point (infrastructure) and Security is WEP 64 bits.

Adapter details seem correct.

Under Wireless Settings when i try to FIND WLAN I click on the correct wireless network and try to connect. I get an Diagnostic Error Code 010. If I try to fix the problem the Diagnostic Tools indicate Error 010; if I click IP Configuration, the IP Address and Subnet Mask for the Wireless Adapter are 0.0.0.0. I’ve tried to Repair and Release the IP Address but both have failed.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

I hate to spend $125 with IBM to solve what I believe is a minor problem.

Thanks.
Jerry
