Well as the WiFi is already working you should first be looking at the NB for possible problems.

Are the WiFi drivers actually installed and working correctly?

In one recent case I found that the Aerial Lead had come off a WiFi Card and was preventing the WiFi from working but without knowing more about the problem unit it's a bit hard to say what else to look for.

I take it that when you setup the WiFi point that you didn't secure it to such an extent that it only allowed one Reconsigned computer to log on.

Here's a couple of more things you can try:
Go in to Device Manager and uninstall the wireless adapter. Reboot and let Windows re-detect it. It may then find the network. If that doesen't work take a look at the properties for the wireless connection and make sure the Show Icon box is checked. Right click on the Icon in your system tray and select Repair.

Make sure your laptop's wireless on/off button (if it has one) is on. Laptops come with on/off switches now. Make sure your adapter is enabled in Network Devices. Make sure you have the correct drivers installed.
