wireless non connection

By bldsm ·

I have a laptop which can see my wireless home router but cannot connect to it. My wife has a laptop which can see the same wireless router and can connect properly.

I take my laptop to work, it can see the work router and connects perfectly.

What could be wrong? Please help!

I have a linksys wireless router at home.

... but incorrect entry of WEP keys or SID names are always the first thing to check.

After that - Firewall settings and DHCP and network settings need checking.

I sometimes come across combinations of AP and wireless NIC that simply don't get along with each other - that could be the case and I'd try another wireless adapter with the same laptop to rule that out. I had this last week with a brand new Sony Vaio - it'd work on some AP, and not on others. Back to Sony (xxx I love Sony xxx) and they fitted a new radio and hey presto.

Good luck
