We have a Linksys router in our office and although my laptop will connect, it will not allow any websites to load, it says " finding site, then switches me to an AOLsearch site but that never comes up either. Are there some settings that need changed or checked? I have Windows XP. Thanks in advance!

Are you the only one who cannot connect or is this a problem with everyone?

Is the router giving out IP addresses?

If so, is your system set to use DHCP assigned IP addresses?

Configure TCP/IP.
Click the Start button, and select Control Panel.
Click the Network and Internet Connections link.
Click the Network Connections link.
Right-click your local area connection, and select Properties.
Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Click the Properties button.
Select the Obtain an IP Address Automatically option.
Select the Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically option.
Click the Advanced button.
Select the WINS tab.
Select the Default: Use NetBIOS Setting from the DHCP Server.... option.
Click OK.
In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, click OK.
Click the Close button.
Restart your computer.

If your system connects to it, is it grabbing an IP? If so, check your browser settings. Usually, unchecking everything is what is needed.
