Wireless offer

By frenk.kaufmann ·
I just read your article Understanding the different wireless LAN choices on your website. A very intersting and well written article I might ad.
You are asking for reactions from companies considering the implementation of wireless technologies. That's why this email. We have a small office building with two Novell 6.0 servers and 10 users with desktops (Win XP pro) and two with wireless anabled desktops (WinXP pro). Also we have a warehouse in a seperate building about 30 meters next to our office building.
We want wireless implemented in our offices ofr the notebooks and also connected one or two desktops in our warehouse to our network by using bridges and external bipolar antenna's.
We are thinking of using Cisco equipment because we have been informed these are best when it comes to security configuration possibilities.

We just got an offer and it would be very interesting to hear your opinion on this, since the prices (even knowing Cisco is not the cheapest) are a lot higher then expected.

The offer consists the following:

1x Cisco AP1231 Euro 720,00
1x bipolar antenna TMC-RP Euro 53,00
2x Bridges 802.11 b/g 2x Euro 135,00
1x flatbed antenna Euro 175,00

Also I am wondering if it wouldn't be smart to await the new a standard and invest in that since it probably won't take long before this new standard is available and also by then security options might be better then at this moment.

I am curious about your opinion on this.

With kind regards,
