Wireless router behind a wired router can't see xp pro files

By flwr1000 ·
We have a Router on the office network that is the standard IP of 192.168.1.1 We purchase a wireless router (linksys) to connect to a 10/100 switch on the front desk that is connected to the wall that goes to the patch panel in the back that goes to wired router. The laptop is wireless with Vista Ultimate. Linksys people had us setup wireless as a gateway with no NAT, no DHCP with WEP. They had us use the IP address on the router as 192.168.1.2 We can connect the laptop with the default gateway of 192.168.1.1 and we can see the internet but we cannot see the files on the xp machine. If we connect the laptop with a patch cord to switch which uses the LAN connection we can see internet and files on XP machine. Should we be using the defalt gateway of 192.168.1.2. of the Linksys wireless in our wireless gateway settings? It seems that when we do we don't see the internet or XP files. Any answers on this.

Is the laptop setup to be in the same workgroup as the XP machine. If not they will ignore each other.

I just came across an article written by Preston Gralla titled "Teach XP and Vista to play nice on networks". The link is http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=901**79 maybe this will help you. Good Luck.
