By flwr1000 ·
We have a Router on the office network that is the standard IP of We purchase a wireless router (linksys) to connect to a 10/100 switch on the front desk that is connected to the wall that goes to the patch panel in the back that goes to wired router. The laptop is wireless with Vista Ultimate. Linksys people had us setup wireless as a gateway with no NAT, no DHCP with WEP. They had us use the IP address on the router as We can connect the laptop with the default gateway of and we can see the internet but we cannot see the files on the xp machine. If we connect the laptop with a patch cord to switch which uses the LAN connection we can see internet and files on XP machine. Should we be using the defalt gateway of of the Linksys wireless in our wireless gateway settings? It seems that when we do we don't see the internet or XP files. Any answers on this.

Is the laptop setup to be in the same workgroup as the XP machine. If not they will ignore each other.
