Wireless with Linux

By frog_oaks ·
I recently installed Mandrake Linux on a Dell Laptop. I would like it to connect to my wireless network. I have a desktop with the same linux connected through and ethernet cable and it works fine. Can someone help me with connecting wirelessly through linux.

This might not be possible as the Wireless

Card may not be supported by Mandrake.

You'll need to post the Make & Model of the WiFi Card before anyone can help you and even then as Dell uses some strange components there may be no Driver Support for that particular Card directly from Mandriva. You may need to use a Debian Driver for it but we'll need to know the make & model if it wasn't recognised by the installer.

That should be in the Dell Instruction Manual or maybe listed on Dell's Web Site for that Model of NB.

ndiswrapper and the Dell supplied windows drivers.
It's usually the easiest way to get a driver for a wireless device.
